Society Membership:

There is no level of ornithological expertise required to join, just a willingness to enjoy birdwatching and perhaps be involved with recording your sightings. All are welcome from beginners to the more scientifically minded.

We can help you with bird identification, help with choosing equipment and, all importantly, help with where to go to see birds.

Attending the Derby Room meetings is an informal affair, usually just watching wildlife slides and listening to the guest speaker, getting to know others who share the interest of ornithology and wildlife in general. There will also be information on events and field trips, etc.

If you are an experienced birder who would like to be involved in local or national survey work then come on down - we can point you in the right direction.

The society has an extensive library of ornithological information going back to it's formation in 1972 with some field notes that have been donated by, you could say, pioneers dating back to 1940.

There is no pressure to join but a small donation to society funds at the door would be appreciated. On arrival just sign in, relax and take a seat. If you wish to join just ask, Mrs Eileen Ball at the door. For postal only e-mail: Jack Critchley

Subscriptions are payable on joining and subsequently on the 1st September in advance for the year.
